SSR1 Funscripts: Setup Guide

The SSR1, short for Silent Stroker Robot, is a single-axis stroker designed by TempestMAx. A quiet brushless motor drives a belt instead of servos, and it plays normal funscripts over T-Code.

How to play funscripts on the SSR1

  1. 1Build the SSR1 from the TempestMAx files, or use a community board that puts the ESP32, motor driver and encoder on one PCB.
  2. 2Flash T-Code firmware. TCodeESP32 builds with bldc in the name are for brushless motors like this one.
  3. 3Plug the SSR1 into your computer with USB and note its COM port.
  4. 4Add a Serial output in MultiFunPlayer, or add the port in Intiface Central as a T-Code device.
  5. 5Load the video and its .funscript file, then press play.

Players that work with the SSR1

  • MultiFunPlayer

Drives the SSR1 over serial, UDP or WebSocket, with speed and range limits.

  • Intiface Central

Supports T-Code devices as a single linear axis, which is all the SSR1 needs.

  • XTPlayer

Free T-Code player for Windows, Linux and Mac.

SSR1, OSR2 and SR6 compared

RobotMotorsAxes
SSR1One brushless motor with a beltStroke only
OSR2Two or three servosStroke, roll, pitch, twist with add-ons
SR6Six servosStroke, surge, sway, roll, pitch, twist with add-on

TempestMAx says the SSR1 is faster and quieter than The Handy, with a longer stroke. One seller lists a 120 mm stroke. A newer design, the SSR2, adds twist with a second brushless motor.

Tips for better sync

  • Set a speed limit and stroke range in MultiFunPlayer before your first run.
  • Community boards, such as the open source SSR1PCB, take 100 W USB-C power and only need the motor plugged in.
  • If moves feel early or late, change the offset in your player. See how to fix sync problems.

Find scripts for the SSR1

Every script on Funscripted is a standard .funscript file, so it plays on the SSR1 with any of the players above.

Frequently asked questions

What does SSR1 stand for?

Silent Stroker Robot, one axis. It is a belt-driven stroker designed by TempestMAx.

Can the SSR1 play multi-axis funscripts?

No. It has one axis, so it plays the stroke from video.funscript. For roll, pitch, surge and sway you need an OSR2 or SR6.

Is the SSR1 quieter than the OSR2?

It is designed to be. It uses one brushless motor with a belt instead of servos, and TempestMAx calls it super quiet.

Where do I get the SSR1 files?

The build files and the beta build guide are posted for TempestMAx supporters on Patreon. Community boards and some sellers offer parts or finished units.
