Making scripts
How to Make a Funscript: Tools and Steps
You make a funscript by marking where the motion is at each moment of a video. An editor shows the video with a timeline, you add a point at the top and bottom of each stroke, and it saves them as a .funscript file.

Make your first script
- 1Open the video in your editor.
- 2Play it slowly and find the first clear motion.
- 3Add a point at each top and bottom of the motion. 100 is the top of a full stroke and 0 is the bottom. Use smaller values for shorter strokes.
- 4Where the motion pauses, add two points with the same position, so the device holds still.
- 5For long scenes, let motion tracking place the first draft of points, then fix them by hand.
- 6Test the script on your device, or on an emulator, and check the sync at the start, middle and end.
- 7Save it with the same name as the video, such as
my-video.funscript.
Tips for a good script
- Match the depth of each motion. Not every stroke needs the full 0 to 100.
- Mind device speed. The Handy tops out at 400 mm per second, so very fast full-length strokes will not play at full length on it.
- Fill in the metadata: title, creator, tags and performers. The file format guide lists every field.
- For robots like the OSR2 and SR6, save each extra axis as its own file, such as
my-video.roll.funscript. See multi-axis funscripts.
